Keeping Cool During Summer
The first question on your mind might be “How do small window air conditions work?”
Well, essentially all air conditioning systems work alike.
Here are the basics.
Your Air conditioner units use special chemicals that convert from a gas to a liquid and then back to a gas.
Your unit has has three main parts. A compressor, a condenser and an evaporator.
It all starts when the chemical enters the compressor as a cool gas. The compressor squeezes the chemical gas until it get really hot.
Now the air conditioner gas leaves the compressor as a hot, high pressure gas and flows into the condenser to be converted to a liquid
when the condenser is done with it, its temperature is much cooler and it has changed from a gas to a liquid. The liquid enters the AC evaporator through a tiny hole. On the other side, the liquid’s pressure drops. When it does it begins to evaporate into a gas.
Your small window air conditioners are exciting things aren’t they?
As the liquid changes to gas and evaporates, it extracts heat from the air around it. The heat in the air is needed to separate the molecules of the fluid from a liquid to a gas.
By the time the working fluid leaves the evaporator, it is a cool, low pressure gas. It then returns to the compressor to begin its trip all over again.
A fan attached to the evaporator helps circulate the air around your house.
Your window air conditioner has a thermostat that senses when the temperature you set has been reached. It will then turn off. If the room gets hot again the thermostat will turn your small window air conditioners back on!
Its pretty simple isn’t it?
